Jerry Sexton is to leave Jersey this summer after getting a chance to play in the Guinness PRO14.
The Irishman, who has started every league match since joining the Reds in 2017, has agreed a three-year contract with the Isuzu Southern Kings, who are based in the South African city of Port Elizabeth.
The Southern Kings are one of two South African sides who joined the PRO14 this season, competing against the leading regional sides from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy.
Sexton has played 53 times to date in competitive games for the Reds, and scored eight tries, most recently in the home match against Hartpury (pictured below by Rich Chapman). Reds' Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon paid tribute to the man who has led his side for the majority of the games he's played.
"Jerry has contributed a huge amount during his time in Jersey and to see another player get the opportunity to play at the next level is very rewarding for the coaches and should also motivate the players to continue to work towards reaching their own goals.
"We will all enjoy watching Jerry play in the PRO14 and potentially even see the 'Sexton v Sexton' match-up. I trust he will enjoy South Africa but we hope that we'll see Jerry in Jersey again in the future."
